Adjust labels and visual annotations

Use marks to explain a detail

Use a box or circle to identify a region and an arrow to point to a feature. Keep the underlying detail visible and choose a color that contrasts with the image.

Open an uploaded image or extracted visual in Media. Zoom in to inspect the detail, but review the saved result at the size the reader will actually use.

Draw an annotation

   Open the image in Media and choose Annotate.

   Choose Box, Circle, or Arrow, then choose the annotation color.

   Drag on the image to draw. Use Select to choose a mark and Delete to remove it, or Clear all annotations to start again.

   Choose Save a copy to preserve the original. Where offered, the adjacent save menu lets you replace the current image.

   Check the saved image, select the destination step, and use Add to step.

Draw directly on the image. Save a copy when you want to keep the clean original.

Crop to the useful detail

   Choose Crop in the image viewer.

   Drag over the image to select the area to keep. Retain enough context to identify the feature.

   Choose Save a copy, or replace the current image where that option is offered. Choose Cancel to abandon the selection.

   Preview the saved result and attach the correct version to the step.

Understand the difference from AI editing

Manual cropping and annotation do not request an AI-generated image. Asking Create with AI to produce or alter an image is a separate generation request and is subject to the workspace allowance.

For generated media that offers a structured annotation editor, adjust its text labels, shape, color, and position fields, then save a new version. That editor explicitly indicates that saving annotation changes uses no AI generation credit.

Check the result at reading size

• An arrow ends at the intended feature.
• Labels remain legible and do not cover a dimension or warning.
• Color alone is not the only way to distinguish critical items.
• The edited version, rather than an earlier attachment, appears in the final instruction.
