Import a .stepgen project
Reuse a project package in the correct workspace.

- Enough project and storage capacity in the destination workspace.

Choose the destination first
A .stepgen file is a portable project package. Import it when you need to restore a shared package or reuse it as the basis for new work. It is different from importing a PDF as a source.
Select the intended workspace before starting. Confirm that its members should have access to the packaged instruction and media.
Import the package

Use Import from .stepgen file in the empty-project view, or Import .stepgen File from Share.

Select the package and let the import complete. Avoid closing the page while the request is working.

Open the resulting project from the workspace.

Review the steps, source list, fields, and media attachments before making changes or sharing.
Make the imported project your own
Rename the project to distinguish the new use or revision. Replace outdated sources and check any organization-specific terminology.
If the package is a starting template, verify its requirements against the new task instead of assuming the old acceptance criteria still apply.
Resolve an import failure
- Use the original .stepgen package; renaming a Word or ZIP file does not turn it into a valid project.
- If the workspace has reached a project or storage limit, ask its owner to free capacity or review the plan.
- If the package is damaged or incomplete, obtain a fresh export from its author.
- After a timeout, check whether the project was created before trying again.
