Guide the AI before you generate
Set writing instructions and choose how much structured data the draft should collect.

Open AI Generation Settings

Open Sources and select the gear labeled AI Special Instructions beside Generate Steps.

Enter Special Instructions for the output you need. For example: “Write for a new technician. Use the component names from the drawing. Separate preparation, action, and inspection.”

Choose Generate Fields when steps should include data collection definitions. Select a sensitivity level.

Choose Save Settings before generating.
Choose an appropriate field sensitivity
Review the generated fields afterward. More fields are not automatically better: each one should capture information someone will actually use.

|---|---|
| Minimal | Only critical checkpoints need a field. |
| Conservative | You want important verification points without much extra collection. |
| Balanced | You want a reasonable starting level of coverage. |
| Thorough | Most steps should collect a result. |
| Comprehensive | Nearly every step should include a field. |
Optional media generation
Enable Generate Media in the Sources cog to prepare supporting images alongside the next instruction-generation run. Open Additional options to choose annotation, source-based creation, or new illustration, and add shared visual instructions. Choose Save Settings before starting Generate.
Automatic planning considers the steps together and creates up to 10 useful images per run, subject to source suitability and workspace allowance. Completed results attach to their intended steps, and existing media is retained. Images may finish after the text is ready.

Check the effect of a change
Saving a preference does not itself regenerate existing steps. Apply it to a subsequent generation or update, then review the result.
Generate BOM is currently disabled. Do not rely on it to create a bill of materials.
