What you’ll achieve

Projects are clearly named, organized in the right workspace, and recoverable when needed.

Before you begin

  • Access to a workspace.
On this page

Create and name a project

  1. 1

Choose New Project under the intended workspace.

  2. 2

Enter a name that identifies the task or item; add a description with scope or revision context. Choose an icon if useful.

  3. 3

Create the project, then add sources or start manual steps.

  4. 4

To rename the open project, edit its name in the header and wait for saving. Use the project menu for other available project actions.

Duplicate before a major variation

Use Duplicate from the project menu when you want a separate starting point for a variant or substantial revision. Check the destination workspace if the action offers a choice.

Open the duplicate and verify its content and attachments before relying on it. Rename it immediately so reviewers can distinguish it from the original. Exporting a .stepgen package is another way to retain a portable copy.

Move unused projects to the recycle bin

  1. 1

Open the project’s menu in the sidebar and select the recycle-bin action.

  2. 2

Confirm the project name before moving it.

  3. 3

To recover it, open Workspace settings and choose Recycle Bin.

  4. 4

Select the project’s restore action, then confirm that it reappears in the workspace.

Permanent deletion in the recycle bin is different from moving a project there. Do not permanently delete a project you still need to recover.

Keep revisions understandable

  • Use consistent names such as task, product variant, and revision.
  • Keep unrelated procedures in separate projects.
  • Retain an export or duplicate before a broad regeneration or translation.
  • Check access and source confidentiality when copying between workspaces.
